Un doctor estadounidense entrevistado por la cadena CBS asegura que los accidentes en jóvenes que intentan "hazañas grandiosas" para ser populares en la web se ha cuadruplicado en los últimos meses.La principal excusa, dice, es que intentaban imitar algo que vieron en un video de YouTube.
Parece que ya será necesario advertir a los jóvenes como a los niños: "no intenten esto en tu casa". Basta con mirar el portal de videos y encontrar videos que para muchos parecen absurdos, pero que los realizadores se toman completamente en serio. Por ejemplo, el caso de aquellos donde se aprecia a jóvenes "bebiendo" cerveza por los ojos, quienes intentan hacer acrobacias en un trampolín o quien realiza saltos extremos en motocicletas o patinetas.
Uno de los videos que rápidamente se hizo viral fue el que mostraba a la estrella de la NBA, Kobe Bryant, saltando un automóvil en movimiento. Sólo ese tuvo más de 4 millones de reproducciones, en el video aparece el guardia de los Lakers de Los Ángeles promoviendo una marca de tenis que "presuntamente" lo ayuda a saltar más, y muchos adolescentes quedaron extasiados con la idea.
