En vista de los casos de explosión que se han registrado en Francia, Reino Unido y Alemania, Meglena Kuneva, comisaria europea de Consumo, ha afirmado que de ser necesario, no dudaría en pedir que se retiren del mercado los iPhone y los iPod.Sin duda, esto sería una fuerte golpe para la empresa Apple, que hasta el momento no ha hecho declaraciones al respecto de esta posible suspensión de venta de sus productos.
"Hemos recibido informes de casos de Francia, del Reino Unido y de Alemania. Estamos en contacto con las autoridades nacionales y con los productores, esperando las respuestas adecuadas, que nos darán oportunidad de sacar conclusiones", dijo Kuneva en una rueda de prensa. "Si los problemas persisten con estos productos y hay necesidad de retirada, no importa lo grande o conocida que sea la compañía, no dudaría en actuar", señaló.
A mediados del pasado mes de agosto, la empresa de informática y electrónica Apple explicó a la Comisión Europea (CE) que la explosión de uno de sus teléfonos móviles en Francia y de un reproductor musical iPod Touch en el Reino Unido eran "casos aislados y no un problema generalizado".
