Es probable que no haya una categoría más confusa en la tecnología actual que la del mundo de las cámaras digitales. Debido a que los compradores potenciales tienen la necesidad de considerar la cuenta de megapixeles, el tamaño de las imágenes y el número de cuadros por segundo, así como las nuevas características como reducción de movimiento, reconocimiento de cara y control de distorsión, no es sorprendente que los consumidores sientan nostalgia por los tiempos en los que las cámaras eran más o menos lo mismo y la selección se centraba principalmente en la preferencia por alguna marca.
